Art
To make art activities more meaningful, Painting with Purpose was created.  No special talent is required!  Donated resident artwork is then displayed in our lobby, where guests and families can purchase the one-of-a-kind pieces through a monetary donation to the Alzheimer’s Association. Painting with Purpose encourages creativity and offers a sense of empowerment, achievement, and connection to the outside community. Plus, residents love having their artwork on display for all to see!

Our annual Mennowood Art Show is another wonderful opportunity to see our residents’ talent on display.  Inquire with our Life Enrichment Director to learn more.

Fitness
Staying active is important to our residents. Exercising is a good option to naturally manage the pain and stiffness that come with arthritis. It also supports a healthy immune system and digestive health.  We offer several structured exercise classes to choose from:

  • Chair Yoga and Meditation (using the Soulspace app)
  • Light Weights (incorporating 1 or 2 lb. weights in exercise routine)
  • Sit and Stand Exercise
  • Resident Walking Group
  • Cornhole and other games

Science for Seniors
The Science for Seniors program is based on the idea that you are never too old to learn. It is composed of stimulating, hands-on science activities and covers topics such as volcanoes, oceans, rainforests, and outer space.  The program is geared towards engaging residents by providing them with science trivia, questions to spark conversations, resource material, and opportunities for further study.

Mens’ Club
The Mennowood Men meet once a month to enjoy each other’s company through woodworking, casino games, luncheons, indoor bowling, or just watching a movie or documentary film together. This volunteer-led group grows in numbers each year and has become a popular “club!”

Resident Ambassador Program
Our Resident Ambassadors act as a “welcoming committee” for new residents, helping them discover all that our community has to offer through relationships with trusted peers and neighbors! Our Ambassadors take their role seriously, ensuring that new residents are connected with their neighbors, welcomed with open arms, and quickly “feel at home” in their new space and community.
